Outside & Counter Sales Representative

Job Summary:
As an Outside and Counter Sales Representative, you will have the opportunity to showcase your ability to call on and provide service to various customers of the store. These customers maybe Wholesale or otherwise. The store Outside Sales Representative is also responsible for assisting in promoting and advancing company marketing/sales programs as appropriate and requested. This position is also responsible for developing and creating new opportunities for sales through cold calls of new customers and accounts.  When working at the counter, the Outside and Counter Sales Rep is responsible for greeting and providing sales service to customers, assisting with non-application parts, mixing paint, customer returns and resolving customer concerns. Secondary responsibilities include checking in freight, delivering parts, cycle counts, cleaning, and label maintenance. A counter sales representative is also responsible for maintaining store appearance, security, safety and daily operational standards, as set by the manager. Job Qualifications:
  • Above average verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the company as well as customers, vendors and visitors  

  • Ability to function in a stressful environment, under substantial time pressure 

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Knowledge of desktop computer programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Minimum of three to five years of related experience and have a thorough knowledge of the auto parts business and sales approaches

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

Job Responsibilities:
  • Call on customers per the schedule/strategy created with the Store Manager or other members of the management team

  • Serve retail and commercial customers with the objective of making Auto Value the leading provider of auto parts, accessories, tools, equipment and automotive paint & supplies in the marketplace

  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of current sales and sales targets

  • Conduct sales transactions with adherence to store/company policies and procedures

  • Complete all related reports accurately and on time

  • Participate in training programs, learning about our products, our programs and our customers

  • Assist with phone inquiries to result in commercial deliveries and in-store sales

  • Use computer and paper catalogs to identify parts, stay aware of current sales and promotions, suggest related sales items and advise possible upgrade options when appropriate

  • Resolve customer concerns or complaints

  • Follow proper store policies and procedures when conducting sales transactions and represent Auto Value in a professional and positive manner
